Spring Break=Not a Break

Friday was my first night in the ED.
First thing I notice? The front desk is a pretty relaxed atmosphere.
Second thing? Business picks up around 5.
Third thing? A lot of head injuries that Friday night.
Forth thing? People go to the ED for a lot of stupid reasons.

I'm sure I should have been able to figure this out already, common knowlege and all that. Still, I guess you don't really believe the horror stories until you see them.

A couple of interesting tales:
1.) A younger patient came in with his mom and (pregnant) girlfriend, looked to be about 16-17. Shot himself in the hand with a BB gun. Neat wound, but really pretty standard.
2.) A 100 year old patient had managed to hit their head on a fall. They're 100, vomiting, but somehow still completely lucid. Go them.
3.) Mailman's son with a bad headache had apparently never heard of the word deodorant. He left the whole ER lobby smelling like a B.O. testing lab. Icccck. But I guess that happens more often then not.

Needless to say, I'm looking forward to learn the rest of the trade...maybe see something really severe, although we're only a Level 2 trauma center.
Cool cool.

Sitting in Colonel production...

...And I'm just starting to use this blog.
I'm pretty sure I haven't done this since Myspace.
Anywho...this is about to be a blog on my life at Robinson and the devling into the medical field.
My other, more personal webpage?

www.facebook.com

If you really have to pry...there you go.
You know what to do from here. =D

But something tells me that working in the ED is about to me more interesting then I should be allowed.
So, onward to play practice.
Love!
